Ricky is the Weber County (UT) Clerk/Auditor.  After graduating with honors from Brigham Young University with a Master’s degree in accounting, he worked as an information systems auditor and consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Los Angeles and Warsaw, Poland. He worked as a business analyst and project manager in Germany and Boston. In 2002, he established, ran, and taught at a private K-12 school in Utah, later becoming CFO and COO of a chain of private schools throughout the western U.S.

Since being elected as County Clerk/Auditor in 2010, Ricky has been honored by his peers as Utah’s County Clerk of the Year and County Auditor of the Year twice.  He and his team have garnered awards in elections innovation and service from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), The Election Center, and the International Association of Government Officials (iGO).

Ricky has testified twice before Congress regarding elections.  He is a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security’s Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council and chairs its Communications Working Group.  He serves on the Board of Advisors for the EAC, the Center for Tech and Civic Life, and the Center for Civic Design.  He served as President of the Utah Association of Counties, President of the Utah Clerk and Auditor Association, and has chaired the Utah Clerk’s Legislative Committee since 2016.  He served as the Election Officials Division Director for iGO and chairs the Elections Subcommittee for the National Association of Counties (NACo).

Ricky is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Public Official, and also earned his Certified Information Systems Auditor license in 1997.  He serves on the Constitution Day Committee of Utah, and on Utah’s Private Activity Bond Authority Board.
